Following

Sometimes, I think I’ll follow you,
but then I lose my nerve
I know the places you go to,
they are dark and dangerous,
the secret places of your mind.
‘Come with me’, you say,
‘I’ll show you the movement of the planets,
you’ll hear with me the music of the spheres
I’ll teach you the mysteries of the universe,
the turning and the travelling of the stars’.

I don’t know how you’ve come by this
arcane and obscure knowledge,
I don’t know who you are, you frighten me,
always asking me to put my mind on yours,
to let all senses go, become pure essence,
you tell me I will never be the same,
which is exactly what I am afraid of.
